We propose a vehicle composed of a number of segments each with the size and capacity similar to a PAT vehicle (See also Novel applications for SSAC )
They would fit together to form an aerodynamically smooth outer surface. This combined with low weight and low-loss wheels would allow exceptionally low energy consumption .
A multi-section vehicle with 10 four-seat compartments. It is articulated so that it can go round the same tightness bends as the PAT vehicles.
Multi-section vehicle designed to carry freight in SSAC s. Two positions are occupied with Cabins. This would provide a service for a few passengers at times of low demand when most of the traffic is freight.
It would provide a high speed metro-style of service, ie, with vehicles with many seats running at regular intervals and stopping at intermediate stops. These routes would typically run at 120 m/s and could have a capacity of 30,000 passengers per hour. In contrast , an orthodox PAT network, providing a taxi-like service running at about 40 m/s has a capacity of up to 2500 passengers per hour.
