Cabins

The MAIT Cabin is a SSAC designed to carry passengers. It is a box, without wheels or motive power with a seating capacity similar to a car. The external attachment features  would be the same as the SSAC and so it can be moved easily in all three dimensions and loaded onto almost any mode of transport, including PRT.

The main application would be where larger numbers of people need to move relatively short distances around a multi-level complex. It could act like a lift (elevator) that can move horizontally as well as vertically.

Interesting possibilities are:

• High through-put stations where Cabins pass through vertically.
• Cabins on a conveyer belt to carry a lot of traffic through a small profile. The capacity could be at least five times that of cars on a single lane of motorway and comparable to that of a metro.
• Cabins loaded onto a PRT type vehicle to take them medium distances. Note that the passenger would be able to stay in the same Cabin and the journey would be non-stop from start to the chosen destnation.

At the other extreme a Cabin designed for sleeping could be used for long distance travel  with greater comfort and privacy.
